ICE SPORTS VISIONARIES:

CARVING A PATH FOR SUCCESS

MICHAEL WINTER

Michael Winter is the president and founder of Palm Beach North Athletic Foundation (PBNAF). He brings his passion for ice sports to life as the lead visionary of the Palm Beach Gardens ice sports facility. Winter grew up playing youth ice hockey in St. Louis, Mo., and has coached youth teams in Florida, Massachusetts, and Missouri. His family has been philanthropically involved with the nonprofit sports organization Affton Athletic Association since its founding in 1972. Winter used Affton’s mission as his inspiration for PBNAF.

WAYNE GRETZKY AND GRETZKY HOCKEY SCHOOL

Wayne Gretzky will utilize the facility to host Gretzky Hockey School, one of the premier hockey schools in the world founded by Gretzky and his son Ty Gretzky. Wayne Gretzky is a former Canadian professional ice hockey player and head coach who has been widely acclaimed as the greatest ice hockey player of all time. He played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Founded in 2014, Gretzky Hockey School provides specialized programs with the Gretzky family and the best coaches in hockey to improve students’ skills, strengths, and knowledge of the game.

LARRY ROBBINS

A valued partner and founding member of PBNAF, Larry Robbins is CEO of Glenview Capital Management and a passionate hockey enthusiast. Robbins was a former ice hockey player and team captain at the University of Pennsylvania, an 18-year youth coach at the North Jersey Avalanche, and an eight-year owner and CEO of the Chicago Steel. Robbins is calling Palm Beach Gardens his new home, along with his family, to invest in the future of ice sports in South Florida.
