The multimillion-dollar project is a public-private partnership agreement with the City of Palm Beach Gardens to develop and operate an approximately 123,000-square-foot, two-story ice sports facility. PBNAF will manage the facility as a nonprofit entity. It will include two National Hockey League (NHL) size rinks utilized for youth hockey, figure skating, public skating, adult leagues, curling, and sled hockey.

“This is the beginning of a new chapter for ice sports in South Florida. PBNAF is grateful to Larry’s unwavering support in making this project happen,” said president of PBNAF, Michael Winter. “From youth hockey and figure skating to community events and year-round recreation, this facility will give locals access to a sport and space that fosters discipline, teamwork, and healthy living.”

In addition to two NHL size rinks, the ice facility’s first floor will feature a training space and an academy space with support from the world’s No. 1 in orthopedics, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). There will also be a quick-serve concession area and a retail space to purchase athletic gear, equipment, and sports merchandise. The second floor will include multipurpose rooms, a large conference room, a performance center, and a full-service restaurant. Visitors will also have areas to observe the ice rinks from above.

Larry Robins and family

“In a county that has almost everything one could ask for, our family is proud to invest our time and resources to bring a world-class ice facility to Palm Beach Gardens, and to build out programming that brings joy, strengthens character, and builds community,” said Larry Robbins. “We are grateful for the leadership and partnership of the civic leaders, visionaries, and local families who inspire us to fully commit to this endeavor. Together we build!”

The project is also supported by NHL legend Wayne Gretzky and his family. The facility will become the future home of the Gretzky Invitational youth tournament, and development camps run by the Gretzky Hockey School, which has been promoting the joyful growth and development of youth hockey since 2014.

The facility is anticipated to open in December 2026. For more information on the project, visit pbgiceplex.org.
